I DON'T KNOW WHY (ha) I didn't give this album more of a chance when it dropped! Once I approached this album with a more open mind (not comparing it too much to their earlier work) I realized it was quite brilliant and charming in it's own right.

Yeah, this album got hyped to hell and back when it came out, but now, 8 years on and divorced from the internet hype machine, it still holds up for me. Deafheaven still haven't managed to top this album in my opinion. It's a pitch-perfect marriage of black metal and shoegaze, of fury and melancholy. Worthy of all the praise heaped upon it. The album title stands for “Congratulations You Ruined Everything,” and its songs are tense and unnerving electronic journeys. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 12, 2021
All sounds on this album come from a recording of a guitar being scratched with a broken violin bow, digitally sculpted into stunning songs. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 12, 2021

Cheeses crust, this is amazing bedroom DIY art. Beautiful & lush sounds flow smoothly down like a delicious shake. The nice sour-esque, but sweet fuzz adds such a nice balance to the latter.
Nice groovy moments abound, as well. It feels really personal, like a portion of her diary is exposed for us to devour deliciously.
Really excellent pop, but that does no justice for this amazing record.
